December 2005Tuesday, December 6th, 2005Site exists, for the first day ever. Welcome. Expect rapid developments. Moved Four Panels of Fun onto the site. Enjoy! Wednesday, December 7th, 2005It is early morning. The site is going as planned, and I've got many plans for addition. Not much work will be done today, as I have a massive exam tomorrow, that could determine my future. Added rudimentary Software and Personnel sections. Sleep well, all your base are probably belong to you. Thursday, December 8th, 2005Finished my exam, now to play the waiting game! Added new section, Amusement of the Day, to keep you all entertained until the current software project is released. Enjoy! I need to think of a section that starts with E. Why? You'll see! Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, there's a new comic in the comics section. First one in a really long time, for anyone who's been keeping up with them. Oh and hey, you might be wondering why a software company website doesn't have any software or news of upcoming software yet. I was wondering that myself, so here's some: I'm currently working on a project that we'll call PROJECT 1 for reference purposes. It's a game, I'll tell you that much, and it currently has about 2000 lines of source code. Updates will follow. Friday, December 9th, 2005Good morning. I'm going to go have some breakfast now. Getting an early start is fun, I've already been at work here for about an hour now! Breakfast: Hamtaro pasta and Diet Dr. Pepper Lunch: Stay tuned... update within the hour Lunch (Continued): And the results are in! 2 ham and swiss buns, one with Tobasco sauce, one with mustard. Well, better finish what I started! Dinner: Pepperoni and bacon pizza and beer. Afterwards, an almond dark chocolate truffle and a christmas orange. Saturday, December 10th, 200511:12 AMI've been mostly working on the site itself lately, rather than the software that it represents, but I think I'm going to turn my focus back towards programming today. Not to say that I won't focus on both. Put PROJECT 1 details in Software section. Nothing you haven't read here, but sets the pattern for additional PROJECTs (coming soon) Fancied up the project details, with tabular format and a production still. Oh, I haven't been labeling all of the times, like I started to do at the beginning of today's entry. Don't assume that I did everything I described at 11:12 AM. The counter hit 100 today! Put up 2 more production stills! Oh, and assume that I'm continuously updating Amusement of the Day. I won't mention it every time I do it, or you'll get tired of it, and no one wants that. Sunday, December 11th, 2005Continuing work on PROJECT 1. Waiting for this site to show up on Google. My appetite is satisfied, so my thoughts can be focused on work. Expanded profile in personnel section. Monday, December 12th, 2005The site is indexed on Google! 6 days, that has got to be some kind of record! Working away on PROJECT 1. Massive restructuring of code, the specifics of which I won't mention here. At any rate, when I'm done, it should make production faster. Did a whole bunch of work, as detailed in the previous message. Now I'm taking a look at PHP, and what it may have to offer to this site. Update! I'm in the process of working on installing a message board on the site! Right on the server! If I figure this out, I'm going to be very proud of myself. I'm determined to do it, don't let me disappoint you! You'll like it, you'll see! It... works! Click the Message Board link! (Update, it's called Forums now!) Tuesday, December 13th, 2005Zounds, it's almost 10 AM and I haven't blogged yet! What is the world coming to? Researching this and that for the site. I encourage you to join the Forums, they're not very lively yet. But they will be! Added a couple of Amusements. Made a few minor changes to the Forums. Wednesday, December 14th, 2005I'm going Christmas shopping today, so it's going to be one of the first days since starting the site that I haven't been babysitting it all day. If the site is on fire when you visit, you'll know why. I'll be back later to check on it, though. And I'm back, a little bit of traffic while I was gone. I'm installing a multiplayer game, on a trial basis, to see how that plays out. It takes up a lot of server space, so I'm reluctant to keep it, unless it's really popular and not too demanding on resources. Oh, and only if it's a good game, too. Alas, I've already installed and deleted it, it was too big for my current setup. Perhaps I will reinstate it when I upgrade my webspace... Time will tell... Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up this time around. I'm going to keep looking at other potential games though. Updates to follow. I've discovered the futuristic beauty of serverside editing. As soon as I save this document that I'm typing at this very moment, it will update on the site. Neat! Anyway, I've noticed that this blog is getting more and more technical. Some of you may be into that, but others may find it to be irrelevant to their day-to-day dealings. Taking this into consideration, I will now talk about what I had for lunch. For lunch, I had a 10 pc. Chicken McNuggets meal with a Coke. It was very tasty, especially because I hadn't had Chicken McNuggets in a really long time. Sometimes things are a lot better if you don't have them all the time. In the case of fast food, it's less expensive, too. Hey, look, I even told you how to save money. Anyway, that was my lunch. Oh, and if you're the kind of person who likes detailed explanations of meals, I had barbecue sauce with my McNuggets. 2 containers of it. 11:24 PM Wow, I'm suddenly feeling quite tired. I don't want to go to bed yet, though. I'm becoming a workaholic. Thursday, December 15th, 2005Wow, so cold in here this morning. I'm going to consult the thermostat. Next, I am going to acquire a cup of coffee. Somewhere in there, I'm going to put on a pair of socks. That's all I'm going to write for now, I need to give your heart a chance to slow down. So I never got to the socks part of that equation. Now I'm importing music from CDs and taking another running jump at PHP. As soon as you see the site start to mutate and become super dynamic, you'll know I've succeeded. Ok, I'm installing Legend of the Green Dragon again. If it's too much, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I have fond memories of playing Legend of the Red Dragon, the game that it's derived from, in the years before the internet went mainstream. So, 10 days until Christmas! I've finished all of my Christmas shopping now, which is a huge load off. It makes it so much easier to enthusiastically look forward to Christmas. Even more so when all of the wrapping is done! The counter just hit 200! Ok, Legend of the Green Dragon (LoGD) is back! Enjoy! Added sitemap. Friday, December 16th, 2005Today, I cleaned my bathtub. And we got our Christmas Tree! We're going to decorate it tomorrow night! Yay! Added a new section, Other Space Cowboys. It's a warm feeling to be part of the Space Cowboy community. Saturday, December 17th, 20052:17 AMBack from a Christmas party. I'ts been a very interesting evening. Now I'm having a long conversation about many things. 11:41 AMGood morning! I'm a little concerned by the amount of bandwitdth that Legend of the Green Dragon is taking up, but I'm going to continue keeping an eye on it. Stay tuned, Space Cowboy! 4:48 PMI think I'm on my fourth cup of coffee. Traffic to my site seems to have possibly achieved a steady trickle. If so, I'm very pleased. 10:25 PMChristmas tree decorated! It looks great! And it makes it feel so much more like it's almost Christmas! Yay! Sunday, December 18th, 200510:35 AMIt's cold in here again. Time to reuse a tried and tested action plan. Thermostat, coffee, socks. Updates to follow. 12:05 PMCleaning my office/studio/bedroom today. Big job. Dusty. But valuable. Monday, December 19th, 200512:53 AMChapter 1: Not We R Going To Hollywood And The StarstreetInteresting how we often start the day by going to bed. Today is not an exception to that. Chapter 2: Snowed InA half-day confinement. Chapter 3: ReleasedI skipped dinner. Now it is time for that. Tuesday, December 20th, 2005Decision: To make a screensaver based on my game. It's a product I can get to market quickly, and use to show people what my style is. PROJECT 2 begins today. PROJECT 2 is well under way. It's an interesting process, because it basically involves taking an axe to the code from PROJECT 1 and cutting away the irrelevant parts, and leaving in and sometimes modifying the relevant parts. It's fun. Early version of PROJECT 2 complete, now moving on to performance optimization and possible addition of new features. Wednesday, December 21st, 2005Was planning on going for a walk today, but it looks quite rainy outside. Tonight I'm going out for Chinese food. Counter hits 300! Back from dinner, it was really good, and thoroughly filling! I'll probably get hungry later, though. That's why I've got what's left of my 700g bag of Cheetos. Yes, that's right. And 1.41L of Diet Pepsi. That's right. PROJECT 3 begins today. It's going to be a web browser. Thursday, December 22nd, 2005Got up about half an hour ago. Hungry. Trying to plan one last, last minute Christmas Shopping acquisition. I'll start with breakfast. Friday, December 23rd, 2005It's Christmas Eve Eve! Yesterday, a walk, and a Solstice Party. Surrealism abound. And now my friend has returned from overseas, early. Welcome back, friend. Merry Christmas from Charlie Brown and Batman! Where did they go? They're in the Gallery of Disturbing Cookies! Tuesday, December 27th, 2005I'm back! Merry Christmas! New section, and what a surprise, it's about food! Feel free to send me any additions to the gallery, and you'll have so much fame. Not fortune. But fame. Wow, fame! Wednesday, December 28th, 2005Hey there. Starting up PROJECT 4 today. It's an AI adapted from several prototype models that I've been working on over the last year. Thursday, December 29th, 20055:05 AMPROJECT 4 is almost completed to a releasable level! It's going to be freeware. Development will continue after release. If I can just figure out why XCode is ignoring my breakpoints... Breakpoint issue solved, thanks to the natural helpfulness of people on the internet! It turned out to be something really simple. Added "Visitors online" counter. Neat! Friday, December 30th, 20054:33 AMPROJECT 4 released! Its release title is ConversationBot. It is version 1.0. If you have Mac OS X, download and enjoy! :D Saturday, December 31st, 2005Happy New Year's Eve! Lots to think about. I don't have any plans yet, but I'm hoping that I will find some. Well, New Year's Eve without a party. It would be silly to let that be depressing though, because then, New Year's is, in effect, achieving the opposite of what it's meant for. So, the way I see it, if you're rocking out right now, awesome! If you're not? Ok! ©2005-2008 Space Cowboy Software |
